If you have not provided Licensing Services with a DBS certificate via TaxiPlus Wolverhampton, you will be requested to submit a DVLA Check Code. This will be completed at the same time as your DBS, when you apply via TaxiPlus. You can read more about the DBS Update Service here. If you do not have a DBS certificate, you can obtain one via TaxiPlus Wolverhampton. 
If you have a manual DBS certificate, you will be unable to subscribe to the DBS Update Service and will need to provide a new DBS certificate every six months. You have 30 days from the issue date on your certificate to apply for the Update Service The DBS certificate must be for an enhanced check for the position of ‘Other Workforce - Taxi Licensing’. You must also subscribe to the DBS Update Service at a cost of £13 per year. An acceptable image of all pages of your full enhanced DBS certificate for the position of "other workforce - Taxi licensing" dated within the last 3 months or enrolled on the DBS Update Service. We recommend applying for a certificate as early as possible and registering for the Update Service, to prevent any delays in future.
We are aware that there are delays to the DBS certificate application times. Please do not chase your application before you have been contacted by Licensing Services as this only adds to the problems. There is no guaranteed time in which your application will be processed and these timescales are indicative only. Once an application has reached the front of the queue, it will be looked at and if the application is incorrect then it will take longer to process. The queue is approximately eight weeks long for new private hire driver licence applications. The information on the iApply application website and confirmation emails advising 20 working days is out-of-date. We are currently receiving a high volume of new applications for new driver licences.
